SEE the world’s Healthiest Red Wine

The Audacia winery on the Western Cape has developed a wine made from rooibos and honeybush that may be the healthiest we’ve seen yet.

If you had any reservations about how healthy wine really is, a vineyard in South Africa is helping to convert even the most skeptical.

The Audacia winery on the Western Cape has developed a wine made from rooibos and honeybush that may be the healthiest we’ve seen yet.

Traditionally used for tea, rooibos and honeybush have been grown in the region for centuries.

Winery owner Trevor Strydom took this traditional crop and developed a new way to produce wine that replaces the traditional oak wood with indigenous rooibos and honeybush wood.
Here’s the exciting part.

The antioxidant-boost red wine is so well-known that it actually increased in this South African variety, thanks to the rooibos itself.

A study in Food Chemistry found that rooibos is not only rich in antioxidants, but also significantly increases our blood’s capacity to absorb the nutrient.

This study found this boosts the body’s natural defenses too, and previous studies have linked higher antioxidant levels to reduced risk of certain cancers and heart disease, among other benefits.

The higher antioxidant levels also help preserve the wine naturally.

This means the rooibos-and-honeybush vino is free of a preservative by-product, sufites, which is found in most wines.

Also, sulfites cause an allergic reaction in many people but both plants have low tannin levels, another compound found in some traditional wines that can irritate people.

As for the most important part, the taste, of course, Audacia describes their vino with words we love to hear regarding any Merlot: a tobacco-like smokiness with hints of vanilla, cherry, and black pepper and since rooibos tea is already a little fruity, this is a blend we’re dreaming of tasting.

The wine is currently only available through the winery’s website, but our fingers are crossed it gets picked up by American distributors soon.

The mastermind behind this pumped-up variety, Strydom, is looking beyond just grapes.

The unique taste and natural preservation abilities of rooibos and honeybush wood make them ideal for beer and cider as well.

This means that the health benefits of all alcohol, at least the non-hard liquor variety, may one day be supercharged.

ANAL SEX – the Pleasure, 6 Dangers and 7 Safety tips

Anal sex is basically “the insertion and thrusting of the erect penis into a person’ anus for sexual pleasure”

But it also includes fingering, penetration with sex toys like dildoes and, anilingus— anal oral sex.

Basically, anal sex allows the stimulation of the prostate gland through the wall of the rectum, something which is reportedly highly pleasurable for both men and women.

However, there are a number of health risks associated with it.

In fact, anal sex has been described as the riskiest form of sexual activity.

The reasons are obvious:

1. The anus lacks the natural lubrication of the vagina so penetration can tear the tissue inside– even when lubricants are used – and allow bacteria and viruses to enter the bloodstream, leading to the possible spread of sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

2. Some studies suggested that anal exposure anal sex presents 30 times more risk for HIV than virginal sex

3. Exposure to the human papillomavirus (HPV) may also lead to the development of anal warts and anal cancer

4. The tissue inside the anus is not as well protected against infection, which leaves it vulnerable to tearing and the spread of infection.

5. The anus is surrounded with a ring-like muscle (anal sphincter) which tightens after we defecate. Now, repetitive anal sex may lead to weakening of the anal sphincter, making it difficult to hold in feces until you can get to the toilet – you might need diapers

6. The anus is full of bacteria and even where both partners do not have STIs, the bacteria in the anus can infect the giving partner.

Now, for those who still want to have the anal sex experience, you need to take care of your health and well-being.

Follow these tips:

1. Avoid inserting a penis into the mouth or vagina after it’s been inserted in the anus until your partner puts on a new condom.

2. Use plenty of lubricant to reduce the risk of tissue tears. With latex condoms, always use a water-based lubricant.

3. Relax prior to insertion of the penis to help reduce the risk of tears.

4. Taking a warm bath before anal sex or lying on your stomach may make insertion easier.

5. Stop if anal sex is painful and if you bleed after anal sex, get medical help because it could be a haemorrhoid or tear, or something more serious such as a hole in the colon

6. If you experience bleeding after anal sex or you notice a sores or lumps around the anus or a discharge coming from it, see your doctor as soon as possible.

7. NOTE: Practicing vaginal sex immediately after anal sex can also lead to vaginal and urinary tract infections!!!

In conclusion, it must be noted that the only way to completely avoid anal sex risks is to abstain from

anal sex entirely – if you can’t handle it, DON’T DO IT.

You should not let your partner or peers pressureyou into it.

Do it only if you want to and you are ready!

Ogogoro Kills Faster Than HIV – OOU Students Warns Nigerians

Festus Eugene Ogun, a 100 level law student of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State has added his voice to the conversation about “Ogogoro” ban in Nigeria.

Read his interesting piece below:

The rate at which people die of ogogoro, the local gin, is getting out of hand. Over 50 deaths of Nigerian citizens have been recorded over the guzzling of ogogoro. To the dead, RIP, to those that are fond of drinking it like water, it’s high time you put a stop to it. The issue of ‘OGOGORO- death’ has not just started today nor yesterday, many unreported cases have been in place over the years. But now that we have good number of people that have lost their lives, we have to tell them to repent, lest, they’ll still continue to die.

85 percent of those drinking ogogoro are the male folks. They take it the same way they take their normal daily food; three square meal. They drink it in the morning, evening and night. Some of these men are irresponsible to their family affairs at home. Some of them are irresponsible at their place of work.

Amidst“serious” people, they talk rubbish.

They drink off their senses in the name of‘enjoyment’ instead of them sitting down at home and planing for a good family life ,they spend most of their time in “beer parlours”, “iya junction shop” and all other “junk shops”.

We have some too that drink theirs at home secretly. They constitute nuisance around the street. Some even drink to stupor.

They use their “last kobo’ in consuming good “cups” of this “dreadful ogogoro” at the detriment of their personal well-being.

Inspite of the fact that they are aware of the evils and disadvantage of the gin, they still persist to drink it. They are stubborn, recalcitrant, disobedient and tenacious to drinking “ogogoro”. They are not ready to heed to correction and advice. Illiteracy truly is a disease can be cured only by supernatural intervention or education. It’s illiteracy that makes someone to consume something that kills him after having full knowledge about it.

This however doesn’t mean educated once aren’t guzzling too, they ‘educated-illiterates’ .

Perharps because they are addicts.
Prevention, they say, is better than cure and I think there is no medicine after death. Even if you’re an addict of ogogoro you have to stop it willy- nilly. This is the time you have to metamorphose from a drunkard to a teetotaler;

‘ogogoro’kills faster than ebola”and hiv/aids. The rate at which “ogogoro- spirited” ones die is just getting uncontrolled and sky rocketing. The time to stop “ogogoro” is now and not tomorrow. For those who are enjoying ‘ogogoro’ in one corner while reading this piece, drop it now, life is dear.

Kudos to the government! But, to make law is easy, to enforce the law, legally, is another challenge.

Enforcing the law is a great problem that we are facing in this country. For the lawvto be effective, the law enforcement agencies should show the right attitude to work. Also, the sellers of the gin should be banned for selling such gin. If the “iya junctions” are banned from selling it, their will be reduction in those that’ll die of ogogoro.

This advice is not binding on the “ogogoro drunkard” alone but also to those who do not drink it as often as the “drunkards” . In the traditional African setting, ogogoro is having its own significance and usefulness. It’s used in traditional marriage, house warming, naming ceremony, etc. Some even use it in preparing or preserving locally herb or concoction; ‘agbo-jedi’. Our culture is our culture, that’s very sure, but I’ll advice us to substitute “ogogoro” with Seaman Schnapps, 7up or Sprite. I think these will still serve the different purposes “ogogoro” serves, if notperfectly, it will at least be manageable.

Our health is very paramount to our living.

Let’s try to be law abiding and not be
recelatrant. Life is dear; OGOGORO KILS!!!
