Fraudsters Are Defrauding Nigerians With Our Name – Chibok Girls Parents

Parents of the abducted students of
Government Secondary School (GSS) Chibok, Borno, on Sunday alerted the public on the activities of some fraudsters using their names to defraud Nigerians and corporate bodies.

More than 200 students of the school were abducted by suspected insurgents on April 14, 2014, while writing their final examination.

Mr Yakubu Maina, the Chairman of the association of parents of the abducted girls, raised the alert at a news conference in Maiduguri.

“We wish to alert Nigerians and corporate organisations on the existence of some individuals and organisations masquerading as parents of Chibok girls to defraud them of their money.

“The call became necessary because this group have turned the agitation for the release of our daughters into a scam,” he said.

Maina, suppported by the Secretary of the association, Mr Lawan Zanna, lamented that the group had often deceived some parents of the girls into attending their functions only to be duped.

“We have realised that the whole thing have been turned into business by individuals who pretend to be fighting our cause.

“Some real parents had been lured to attending meetings with highly placed individuals in Abuja and beyond only to discover that they have been short changed by these individuals,” Maina said.

He said that 14 parents of the abducted girls have died due to heart related diseases.

“Fourteen parents have so far died since the abduction of our girls in 2014.

“Most of them died due mainly to heart related diseases and trauma,” said the chairman.

Man arrested for beating up debtor after reporting to the Police(See Photo)

A commercial driver, Emmanuel Oleka, who reported a man who owed him money to the police, has been arrested after allegedly leading a gang to beat the debtor up.

It was gathered that Oleka and other suspects had trailed the debtor, Victor Kelechi, to Oregie Road in the Ajegunle area of Lagos around 7pm on Tuesday. They reportedly waylaid him and smashed the glass of his car.

As he attempted to flee, one of the attackers allegedly inflicted injury in his hand with a cutlass.

The gang was also said to have made away with N55,000 and a phone belonging to the victim.

However, Oleka and the other arrested suspects ─ Victor Clement, Daniel Okoi, Chioma Oweize and Wale Idowu ─ denied attacking Kelechi, saying it was a mob, who heard the shout of ‘thief, thief’ that injured him.

But for an eyewitness, who reportedly alerted the policemen at the Ajeromi station, our correspondent learnt Kelechi would have been lynched.

The witness, who identified himself only as Paul, said, “I was driving along the road on the fateful day when I saw a crowd attacking the man (Kelechi). When I saw that the situation was going out of hand, I called the police.”

Our correspondent was told that Kelechi had in 2008, when Oleka was dealing in petroleum products, bought diesel worth N260,000 from him and promised to pay some days later.

He was said to have reneged on the promise and stayed away from the creditor’s reach. It was learnt that Oleka eventually ran into him in the Festac area sometime last year and reported him to the police, leading to his arrest.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Kelechi after writing an undertaking at the police station, paid N207,000 of the sum in installment to the creditor through the police.

A police prosecutor, ASP Olusoji Ojaokomo, brought Oleka and other suspects before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court on four counts bordering on assault and stealing.

The charges read in part,
“That you, Emmanuel Oleka, Victor Clement, Daniel Okoi, Chioma Oweize, Wale Idowu and others now at large, on June 30, 2015, at about 6.40pm at Dusbin bus stop, Oregie, Ajegunle, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire to commit felony to wit; unlawful damaged of Menz C230 saloon car marked, FST 646 DM.

“That you and others at large, on the same date, time and place, in the afore said magisterial district, did steal the sum of N55,000; a wallet containing a voter card, ATM cards, a driving licence and one Samsung Galaxy XIV valued at N75,000, property of one Victor Kelechi.”

“That you and others now at large did assault Victor Kelechi by using a cutlass to his right hand which caused him bodily harm.”

The presiding magistrate, Mr. P.A. Adekomaya, admitted them to bail in the sum of N50,000 each with a surety each in like sum.The case was adjourned till July 29, 2015.

Lagos State Governemnt Demolishes SURE-P Head Quarters

The Lagos State Government on Saturday demolished the headquarters of the Subsidy Re-investment and Empowerment Programme, SURE-P, Taskforce at the old toll gate on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Hakeem Adedeji, the Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences, told journalists that the demolition was carried out on the orders of of the state government.

“The reason for the demolition is to the best knowledge of the governor because he was the one who directed that the buildings should be pulled down in the interest of the public,’’ he said.

Mr. Adedeji said he believed Governor Akinwunmi Ambode must have issued the directive based on the abandonment of the building and its conversion to a hideout by miscreants.

“On getting here, we could not find any Federal Government official inside the building, rather, we found street urchins.

“There is need to avoid that and that is why we believe that if the building is demolished, no one will use it as a hideout,” he said.

The chairman noted that the structure ought to have been demolished since June 22, but that due process had to be followed before carrying out the demolition.

“All these are geared towards ensuring that the rights of the citizens are not infringed upon.’’

The debris and heaps of documents used by the agency were evacuated from the site.

The decision to demolish the building might not be unconnected to the smooth working relationship between the Lagos government and the federal government with both now led by the same political party, the APC.

Earlier this year, former Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos wrote to former President Goodluck Jonathan over the presence of the officials, who claimed to have been set up by the Presidency, to publicly state their functions.

Mr. Fashola and Jonathan belonged to opposing parties and both governments disagreed on a lot of matters in Lagos State including security, traffic and road maintenance.

Man Arrested For Taking Pictures Of Policemen Collecting Bribe In Lagos State (See Photo)

Thompson Ntiedo residing in Lagos was arrested yesterday, June 23rd by Police Officers attached to the Okota Police Station for taking photos of a police man collecting bribe from a motorist in the Okota area in Lagos.

According to reports by The Nation, Thompson was detained for over three hours, released on bail at about 9pm with his two phones confiscated after he was forced to delete all the pictures he took.

Narrating his ordeal, Thompson said:

“I was in a commercial bus when we got to the area and one of the policemen on the road was demanding that our driver bribe him. I brought out my phone and captured him and they saw me. They dragged me out of the bus and seized the phone I used to take the pictures.

They said I was under arrest but I begged that they should delete the pictures and release me but they refused. The next thing, they called the station and a patrol van appeared and they demanded that I enter because the DPO wants to see me.

When we got there, they didn’t take me to meet the DPO neither did they release me. I was there from 6pm to 9pm. Afterwards, they asked me to go home and report back by 9am the following day (Wednesday). But before I was released, I had to call one of my brothers with my second phone to come and bail me.

Meanwhile, before I left that night, they also seized the second phone from me and I went home without any of my phones.

I got there Wednesday by 9am and waited till 2:40pm before my second phone was released.

This was after the human rights officer intervened in my case and asked them to let me go. Even at that, the policeman handling my case went to Ikeja to submit my report and so I had to wait till he got back for my phones to be released.” he said

PHOTO: Baby factory with 9 pregnant young girls discovered in Enugu

A baby factory was uncovered on June 13th in Etiti, Amankwo-Ngwo Udi Local Government Area of Enugu state by men of the 9th Mile Division of Enugu Police command. The baby factory which was operated by one Obinna, was keeping 9 young pregnant ladies, according to Vanguard.

Enugu state police spokesperson, Ebere Amaraizu confimed the discovery.

We had strong intelligence report about his activities. We had to put a tab on him for some time which eventually paid off. Nine pregnant girls at various stages of pregnancy were rescued” he said .

When interrogated, the operator claimed he ran a maternity home and not a baby factory. He said he got approval from the state’s Ministry for Women Affairs

“I decided to run the maternity from my house. I am supposed to inform the Social Development and Women Affairs Ministry within 24 hours of admitting any pregnant women. I called the Ministry on phone instead of writing them. The people I admitted came without referral.”

One of the victims, Ugwu Christable, while narrating how she got to the baby factory said she was raped and brought to the baby factory to give birth

“I could not report the incident to my parents until it resulted to pregnancy. I was forced to marry an old man or leave the family which made me seek assistance through one of my aunties. She was the one that directed me to the home. At the home, all we do is to eat. We were asked to list what we want with the agreement that after delivery, we will leave our babies and go.”she said.

President Buhari’s wife relocates to Aso Rock ahead of husband

The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, has relocated to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, barely three weeks after President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration was inaugurated.

Since they were inaugurated, Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo have been operating from outside the Presidential Villa.

This is despite the fact that both men have their official residences and offices inside the Villa.

They have both been operating from their private residences as well as the Defence House, official residence of the President-elect located at Maitama District, Abuja.

It was gathered that Mrs. Buhari formally relocated to the Presidential Villa on Thursday at a time when her husband was out of Abuja.

“Hajia (Buhari) arrived here (Presidential Villa) with her entourage at about 6pm on Thursday. She had relocated ahead of her husband. She passed the night here,” a Presidency official reported.

Another Presidency official said that the President is expected to join his wife next week.

Buhari had departed Abuja for Kaduna on Tuesday shortly after he arrived from South Africa where he took part in the just-concluded 25th Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.

He proceeded from Kaduna to his hometown, Daura, in Katsina State.
Buhari is expected back in Abuja from the journey described as “private trips” this weekend.

“The President is expected back this weekend. He will be expected to join his wife here on his arrival,” the source added.

Upon his formal relocation to the Presidential Villa, Buhari is expected to operate for the first time from his office on Monday.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said that ongoing renovation work was hindering Buhari from moving into the Presidential Villa.

He said,
“As far as the President is concerned, the place (his official residence) is not ready yet. Workers are cleaning and refurbishing the place. Once the exercise is completed, the President will move in.”

If It’s Not Scary, It’s Certainly Not For Me — Charly Boy

In a recent interview, Charly Boy talked about his family, life, kids and more.

On his age,“I’m not particular about how old or young the number is. What I care about is the age of my mind and then the age of my body. From my look, my energy and all, I feel 35 or slightly younger. That is the age of my mind. Going by my experiences, my responsibilities, my wisdom and.all, I should be about 87 years old,”

“I dress the way I feel. My happy moments are when my usefulness is engaged, when I see the influence I bring into people’s lives, when I’m able to add value and make a measurable contribution to individuals and society.”

Charly Boy says he never cherished ones off to the airport.

“I hate to say goodbye. I find it hard to do so. That’s why you may not find me seeing cherished people to the airport unless we are travelling together. Same for my relationships. I love forever.”

On his children,“Unlike some parents who can’t truly love more than a child at a time, I love all my children in different ways and I see a bit of me in all of them, up to my siblings, grandchildren and all.

Family is really what I have been blessed with, and my happiest moments have been family times,”he added.

On regrets in life, he said “Regrets don’t exist in my dictionary. I live life on the edge and to change it would mean doing things in traditional or conventional ways. To do that, for me, is to give up the ghost. If it’s not daunting and scary, it certainly is not for me.”

Wizkid Ports To GLO, Signs #120M Endorsement Deal

Our number one super starboy, Wizkid has decided to go green after following the yellow big road forlike 2 years now. Since the wave of endorsement deals and the industry’s star acts, the likes of Davido, Don Jazzy, Chidinma, Praiz, Iyanya and Tiwa Savage have remained under the brand ambassadorship of big telecommunications giant, MTN .

While news filtered in that Sean Tizzle and Timaya had been dropped, we keenly awaited the fate of the lungu crooner. In an unexpected yet twistful plot, Wizkid hitch-hiked a ride with Glo’s wagon to pitch his tent alongside star acts like Flavour, P-Square , Omawumi, Waje, Chee, Lynxxx, Bez, MI and Naeto C.

His deal is said to be worth N120million… obviously more than what rival company, MTN was offering.

MTN React To Viral Condom Photos All Arround The Internet

Reason Why We Dropped Wizkid, Seantizzle & Timaya As Ambassadors – MTN

Telecommunication giant MTN has revealed why they dropped three industry heavyweights which includes Timaya , Sean Tizzle and Wizkid.

The company didn’t give a distinct reason but said its ambassadorship “will continually evolve to accommodate new talents and cater for diverse segments”.

See their explanation down below.

“Although there is a finite number of brand ambassadors we can have at any point in time, Nigerian artistes can continue to monetise their intellectual works through our distribution channels such as the Caller Tunez and Music Plus platforms.

As was originally conceptualised, the ambassador ship will continually evolve to accommodate new talents and cater for diverse segments.

This year, we are using a segmented approach and there will be ambassadors for each segment of our market. Using this criteria, new artistes like Cobhams Asuquo will be coming on board the MTN Ambassadorial family. In May 2015, stars including Davido, Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Dr. Sid, Sound Sultan, Iyanya , Chidinma, Banky W, KCee as well as Saka, Osuofia, Mama Geeand others all renewed their contracts with MTN.

The list of those who won’t be staying with MTN contains Nigerian pop stars like Wizkid, Sean Tizzle, and Timaya”. “The list of those who won’t be staying with MTN contains Nigerian pop stars like Wizkid, Sean Tizzle, and Timaya.”

It has been rumoured that MTN’s competitor Glo are poaching for Wizkid.
